DR. ANDREA KING SHEPHERD, DNP, LNP, FNP-C, CNE

​

Dr. Shepherd is a board certified family nurse practitioner native to rural Orange County, Virginia. As an Orange County High School graduate, Dr. Shepherd first entered the health care field at the age of 16 as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the local nursing home. Then, as a first generation college student, Dr. Shepherd attended the University of Virginia (UVA) as a Sonja Hoel-Perkins Scholar to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Bioethics. After graduating from UVA, Dr. Shepherd moved to the DC-area and worked as a critical care registered nurse at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. During that time, she attended the University of Maryland Baltimore as a Jonas Scholar to obtain her Doctor in Nursing Practice (DNP) degree while focusing her studies on becoming a family nurse practitioner. There, she also obtained her Teaching Certificate. Dr. Shepherd's nurse practitioner experiences include starting and running a well known lung cancer screening clinic and pulmonary nodule clinic at MedStar Georgetown Cancer Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She also has experience with tobacco cessation counseling and treatment, serving as a primary care provider in a long-term care and post-acute setting in Texas, working in urgent care, being a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor University, and experience in retail health in Virginia.

 

After being gone from Central Virginia for 10 years, Dr. Shepherd recently moved back in 2023. During her first year back, it became evident the area was in dire need of health care access and health equity, particularly in the rural areas. In 2024, the Lord placed on Dr. Shepherd's heart it was time to help fill the gap in health care and open a mobile health care practice; and in her obedience, came the creation of Elite Faith Mobile Medical Clinic PLLC.

Now, as a Louisa County resident, Dr. Shepherd is happily married to her husband and college sweetheart, Khalek Shepherd, and together they have two daughters- Arielle (3 yrs) and Kyleigh (2 yrs)- and a chihuahua named King. In her spare time, you can find her out and about with her family either at gymnastics with the girls, UVA sporting events, traveling, or making memories elsewhere.
